The Houston County Bar Association celebrated Law Day on April 28th at the Houston County Courthouse. This year’s Law Day theme was “Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law,” marking the 800th anniversary of the Great Charter. In observation of Law Day, the bar association awarded scholarships to six local students and honored two of the county’s attorneys, Larry Walker and Jack Kemp. The students participated in the bar association’s scholarship competition, which required submission of a brief essay, a high school transcript and a letter of recommendation from a high school instructor.
Jack Kemp and Larry Walker were honored on the anniversary of their 50th year of admission to the State Bar of Georgia. Their sons, Crawley Kemp and Russell Walker, who are also attorneys in Houston County, presented plaques to their fathers to commemorate the occasion. The bar association thanks the scholarship winners, the Houston County Superior Court judges, and Houston County’s elected officials for their participation in this event.
