The Houston County Bar Association won the State Bar of Georgia’s Award of Merit for 2014-2015. State bar president Patrise M. Perkins-Hooker presented the award to the association president Russell K. Walker at the annual bar meeting the weekend of June 19, 2015. The event was held at the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott at Stone Mountain, Georgia. The Houston County Bar Association won the award in the 51 to 100 member category. Other winners were the Tifton Judicial Circuit Bar Association for memberships under 50, the Blue Ridge Bar Association for 101 to 250 members, the Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia for 251 to 500 members, and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys for 501 members or more.
The Award of Merit is given annually to voluntary bar associations for their dedication to improving relations among local lawyers and devoting time to serving their communities.
